CAROLINA LEAGUE
 The
Carolina League is one of the oldest and
most respected minor leagues in baseball,
with national name recognition and an annual
attendance of over 1 million.
Client’s Needs
The Carolina League was looking for a
complete new look to its web site, which had
not changed since it was launched in 1996.
The league also wanted to explore the
revenue opportunities of the internet.
The Sports Vue Program:
Sports Vue’s partnership with the Carolina
League has resulted in one of the most
comprehensive and up to date web sites in
minor league baseball.
The key areas on the
league web site are:
Game Night: Features recaps of
each league game, as well as daily box
scores. The recaps and box scores are
updated each night. Carolina League.com is
the only site in minor league baseball with
that feature.
Stats Zone: For
the truly numbers-crazy baseball fan. The
Carolina League Stats Zone includes a
complete daily report, with stats on every
player in the league. Team pages offer a
quick glance at every team’s entire season,
with a game-by-game account of scores,
winning/losing pitchers and links to each
box score.
History: More
than 300 current major leaguers played in
the Carolina League. Eight Hall of Famers
also have their roots in the league. The web
site highlights all of these players, with
additional off-season features planned,
including year-by year capsules.
Marketing: Even
before the site was re-launched, Sports Vue began developing
incremental revenue through the sale of local travel-related
sponsorships.
The launch of the
league’s e-commerce store has allowed the
Carolina League to begin selling media
guides and trading cards. In addition,
photos by Sports Vue’s staff photographer
are being sold on the site.
